There was a cool study done a few years ago in South America -- Guyana, I think -- to test the keen sense of smell a Turkey Vulture has. They put a 1 square foot piece of rotting meat 6 inches under the soil in a dense jungle and timed how long it took for one to find it. I less than ten minutes from out of nowhere, a TV swooped down & nailed that bait. i could prolly find that video, but too lazy!  |
