I haven't heard of any connection between steroids and pancreatitis. I Googled and found one vet site that says there is no confirmed connection, but that steroids will increase lipase.
I would focus on getting an accurate diagnosis of what is wrong with your dog. There are specific blood tests that can confirm or rule out pancreatitis, which can have unknown causes.
What did your vet advise at your latest appointment?
