Check to see if California has a Puppy Lemon Law. But I would take the puppy back if it is very ill and if you have not bonded with it.
But immediately the vendor should know that the puppy is ill. I am assuming your vet had kept good vet records for this ill puppy.

Pet stores are often where puppy mills and brber's sell their dogs to.
