My Yorkie was having low blood sugar episodes as an adult but I think in just about every case gums are pale/whitish so if he's weren't I would think it was something else. My vet said it is not normal for an adult to have low blood sugar so we did hundreds of dollars of testing and nothing ever showed up but at the same time I was getting more into dog food and noticed sugar was listed as one of the ingredients so I switched food and sense then we have never had any issues. My vet did tell me where I could prick her to test her blood sugar with my diabetic meter but I never got the chance. I still try to be careful with her and make sure if she is going to be going into a stressful situation that she eats first or if she is in a stressed situation I feed her a snack. I would have his liver tested and thyroid. In my opinion though I am not sure hypoglycemia is what it is.
