If you run into a really bad tangle a product called Cowboy Magic works really well if you massage it into the knot. You can find it in the horse section at Petco. I don't know if PetSmart still carries horse products but they used to.

Thank you I will look for that! I know my puppy will lose that beautiful black hair but I wanted to keep it for as long as I could because it's so pretty
