I bought some frozen raw food before that was discolored, looked freezer burned, and was all icy and frozen together. I took it back to the store I bought it from right away and he gave me a different bag, no questions asked. And, we checked the new bag right there to make sure it was ok before I left. I guess it's too late though since you have already thrown it out, but a good store would take it back and give you a replacement or refund.
