Could just be the angle you are looking at him, and taking pictures, and the way the light sources are hitting his eyes.
If the white of the eye is not red, and he isn't holding it closed or winking excessively, no discharge, I think you are safe waiting until his next scheduled appointment to see the vet and have the eyes examined.
