Airline pet policy - I feel ripped off Two years ago when I flew with my dog, USAir charged $125 each way. And since I was paying for a "ticket" for him, he did not count toward my carry on luggage count. In making my reservation this time, I was told that he DOES count toward my carry on limit of one bag and one personal item.
So that means that in addition to my $125 fee for the dog, I also need to pay to check a bag.
The agent couldn't tell me what I am getting for $125, except the "privilege of bringing my pet." The airline is not allowing any additional space on the plane, and since he must stay in the carrier the airline certainly isn't providing any "services" in flight. So what are they providing for my $125? Nothing.
I know airlines are having trouble making ends meet, but I still feel ripped off.
