Poor Bentley! If he is still behaving this way after a few minutes after it happened, I would be concerned. Max ran head on into a wall at full speed when he was a puppy and wanted to be comforted, but he was up and normal within minutes.
Dogs often hide, isolate themselves, when they are in pain. Tail down is also an indicator that something might be off.
Is he acting afraid of you, or just your daughter?
