I agree...I wouldn't want to take a puppy where it could be exposed to bad stuff like diseases and chemicals its little body might be unprepared to handle.

But, I am absolutely certain I have bathed puppies and kittens after their mommies quit their full-time care and the babies were mobile (wobbly...lol) and rolling in nasties...only when they needed it...but, sometimes, they really needed it, too.

A touch of a gentle puppy shampoo...I like clear shampoos with no added color, fragrance, etc. even for large breed adult dogs...but even just plain nice warm water...water and air are great healers. I'd be sure to keep the puppy warm, though...I'd keep it all bundled up and snuggled to me until it was completely dry and warm. Mine always were willing to snuggle after a bath, but when they started squirming to get free, that was my signal they were ready to be put down again.
