Default for those of you with 2 or more yorkies

I am considering getting another yorkie puppy. I think I might be crazy. We currently have one 4 month old yorkie, Barney, and a 15 year old pomchi, Max. Max cannot tolerate Barney. Unfortunately, Barney adores Max and he is constantly jumping at him and trying to play. Max has many health issues: congestive heart failure, arthritis, spondylosis, a collapsed trachea and epilepsy. Despite all of this, he actually has more good days than bad which is why we have chosen to not put him down. But I am fearful that Barney is too much for him. I was thinking that if we had another puppy, Barney would have a playmate and leave Max alone. I keep them separated most of the time, but every now and then Barney manages to get to him. I am wondering if those of you who have two yorkies let them stay in the same crate together. I was thinking that it would be nice if Barney had a playmate when he has to be crated during my work hours. Do these seem like selfish reasons to get another puppy?
