My favorite brush is the Madan. It REALLY is different from any other brush. You can get them from mimimomo at toplinepet.com. The mustache comb is another "must have" in our daily grooming routine. It's great for the face & little legs.
And I also def think you should look for another groomer. How bizarre. Good luck!!
