There seems to be no shortage of "groomers" these days. If your dog is not matted as the person you talked to says then find another one. Some "groomers" only know how to shave. They honestly do not want to do anything else. So many people have dropped off their dogs with specific directions only to pick up a scalped doggy!

If she fights the brush, have tried just combing her a little at a time? Sometimes it does take a lot of patience to train them to accept grooming. I would also be concerned that if she fights you during a grooming session that she will do the same with the groomer. That can sometimes be a cause of injury.. Maybe try to get her a little more accepting of the comb and try to find a groomer that won't scalp her. If you can get someone to hold her for you maybe you could trim her backside yourself.
