A friend of mine who breeds has a yorkie that was not a blue-born and she is white with a faint silver saddle. She has been used for breeding and has had no pups that were not standard. It is not standard nor is it a dominant trait but it can happen. To say it is not normal is not right. Perhaps to say rare, like true green eyes in a human is more appropriate. However, IMO the pup should be priced accordingly. Though it is not a common coat color a puppy sired from a dog that is blonde/white should not be priced any differently than other pups in the area. Though it COULD be a carrier of the gene there is no certainty that it could develop that trait. All I have running through my head now is those Punnet Squares from Biology when I was in High School... |
