Wondering about what happened will bug you forever. Do you think maybe something clamped down on it, pinching it, like getting caught/closed in a door, or a mouse trap or something? Just guessing, since there was not much blood, maybe something cut off circulation.

I remember a thread quite a while ago where somebody accidentally got their dogs ear caught in a rubber band in her top knot, and the tip of the ear died off like that. Again, just guessing.

I love hearing theories, thanks! Jillie is so active that there are many ways it could have happened violently. From dog meetups to an ornery sister and brother at home, I can easily envision an injury like that. But what stumps me is why no blood and why the straight line cut. The band theory would cause that, but I'm sure that didn't happen.
