Buster started hopping and extending one leg out so I knew that the kneecap was popping out and not easily slipping back in. Having bad knees myself I know how painful that is. I went to my Vet and an Orthopedic Surgeon and he was diagnosed with Grad 3/4 LP in both back legs. The left one was giving him issues and the Ortho recommended surgery on that leg but to wait on the right until it started bothering him. Not all dogs need the surgery but I feel it is important to find the best Orthopedic Vet you can and go with their recommendation. Buster was MUCH BETTER after the surgery but even now it sometimes goes out. In Buster's case I do feel it was 100% worth it and that it did improve his quality of life. Best wishes for you and your Yorkie. The recovery is the hardest part as you have to make sure they stay quiet for 8 weeks to allow the knee to heal properly. It's a challenge but I am willing to do whatever is needed to be the best guardian I can for my sweet baby boy.

joanb I hope your baby is doing well!
