I would say the Yorkie has a much higher energy level than most small non terrier breeds do. They should not be hyperactive though. That is a definite fault you do not want to have to deal with.
Some breeders breed for certain popular characteristics but do not bother with the personality traits. You really want to check out your breeder and make sure they have been producing pups with great temperaments.
Have you considered a Maltese? They are fun dogs that love to snuggle.
