Pomeranian's are definitely known as being huge barkers!

Again, it's going to depend on individuals but when when someone wants a 'lap dog' Yorkie is not really what comes to mind. Unless you find an adult that you know is already like that! But with pups, you're taking somewhat of a gamble. I do think that in general, you can somewhat mold a puppy into what you want them to be, but certain things you won't be able to change, and that's when each breed's general descriptions and temperaments come into play...

Honestly, some of the best 'lap dogs' I've ever been around have been mastiff's and great danes, LOL...

Shih Tzu's are typically pretty mellow and love to cuddle, IME. Chihuahua's as well but they have a bit more 'feisty-ness' to them. But I know someone with 5 and they are always ready to go for a walk, or a hike, or an adventure, but they're always perfectly content burrowing in the blankets for 5 days if needed.

From what you describe you want, yorkies or havanese wouldn't be my first suggestion. I'd look into Shih Tzu's, Chi's, Japanese Chin, Pugs, Pekinese, even look into the Tibetian Spaniel.

Jackson would never allow me 5 days of laying around LOL. Granted, he's on the 'extreme' scale of activity - he really needs a lot to be totally content, but the most I can get of lounging around the house not doing much of anything is about 2 days. Then he's just *itching* to do something and he will start finding things to chew, and just being an all around pest.
