That is not the norm for our usually people-loving breed. I would think it is a sign of a problem -- if not physical, then emotional. Could it be your pup was separated from its momma too early? I've seen problems when they are taken prior to 12-16 weeks. If vet is sure there are no physical concerns, then you will just need to be extra patient. Try not to overwhelm a shy pup with too much "in your face" type attention. You will want to give lots of attention in theform of talk and gentle touch. But you might have to limit picking up, holding -- anything your pup might feel is a lossof control or confining until he's ready to be more relaxed. Some may just be more independent but chances are you will wind up with a loving, cuddly yorkie in time. I've never seen another breed that so obviously loves human contact. Good luck! |
