honestly it could go either way, I have had two yappers and two quite yorkies. My first one years ago before I knew better was even debarked cause I could not stand nor train the barking out of him. I did not even live in a condo, I had a free standing house but he could still be heard outside. I am assuming you have an elevator type building with hallway entrances, that could be a real challenge since dogs tend to bark when people walk by, going out with the dog left in side could be a problem since many bark non stop till you return. I have a very light barker now, however that changes when we leave her someplace. we often overnight on our boat in different marinas, as soon as we leave the boat she starts barking and does not stop till we return, she would probably do that in an apartment condo if left alone In time some get used to it, but not all do. Also the lap dog thing could go either way. I have friends with very energetic yorkies and some with slugs that don't move much yet are not that old. LOL after thinking more about this I think you should get a cat
