When I was about that boys age (I'm 34 now) I was bitten on the side of my face by a Great Dane. Scar next tomy right ear about 1 1/2 long. But i deserved it. I put my face in his space while he was eating and this was a neighbors dog I played with on my way home daily.
Proper training and socializing is one thing but if the dog feels threatened they will bite. It's in their nature. I believe more parents need to take responsibility for their children's actions and mistakes and quit blaming the dogs.
Thing we don't see is the whole story. How do we know that boy didn't make a sudden move or gesture that made that pup fearful to where it bit. |
