I must be exceptionally blessed....I have not lost a baby that was failure to thrive, and I tube feed ANY baby that is incapable of "latching on", as well as any baby the mother abandons....as I can not stand the thought that baby starved to death. If there is multiple organ failure, then the baby will die regardless, but it wont be because I did not give that precious, innocent soul the nourishment it needed. If there are obvious malformations or deformaties that are going to prevent a babys survival, then yes, I will have the baby euthanized, because I do not believe in prolonging the suffering.....but I can not with clear conscience, justify in MY mind, allowing my babies to starve to death. I have saved numerous babies that just were pushed away by littermates, or did not suckle for whatever reason, babies that would have died if I had not fed them....that are living strong happy lives today......I never assuem there is a problem that is going to claim the baby's life, I brought that baby into the world, and I believe it is my responsibility to use whatever control over the situation God gives me, to try to save that baby. If God wants that baby back, He will take it, regardless of what I do...especially something as simple as tubefeeding a starving baby. I will leave this......
