I am in the same boat and have been off for 3 weeks with my little girl. I work in another city and commute 2 hrs per day. My hubby works nights and is always home during the day. He knows how to look after dogs as we have two border collies that were pups once.
But I know she cries when I leave for 20 mins to go tanning. I put her in a large x pen with lots of toys and soft bed stuffed toys chew toys raw hides etc and her washable 4 pee pads overing the bottom of the pen. She also has water and my hubby feeds her during the day and plays with her after he gets up From sleeping. The x pen is in our living room so I can leave the tv on with music and I cover the pen with a blanket on the sides.
I hope I am doing the right thing. If you find anything that works let me know b
