Oh I can't wait to see the quilt you and your mom made, how fun working on a joint project, one of these days I hope to make a small rag quilt. If you can't find the d rings just let me know, the plain ones I buy are really not very expensive so I don't mind sharing, just glad you want to try the challenge.
