Yes, but breeders were breeding for certain attibutes picking and choosing which pups should be bred. With designer breeding, it's a crap shoot, you have no way of predicting which traits will pass from each breed. No one is saying you can't develop a new breed, however, it should be done with a set goal in mind, a specific task for the dogs, not just to supply some pets for people, we already have enough!
