I definately would get a 2nd opinion. But to ease your mind a little..
I had a female one time that had greasy hair and yet dry skin. My Vet gave me a medicated shampoo and after a few shampoos it was gone. It's been so long ago all I remember is he said the dry skin was causing over reaction from oil glands.
The shampoo is Keratolux made by Virbac. Supposed to bathe 2x weekly for 2 weeks then weekly for 2 weeks. But if I remember right, it didn't take that long.
