I would limit access at first, yes. Until you are comfortable that you can trust him in his new environment - not to pee/poo where he shouldn't and not to tear up anything. Then, as he earns your trust in those areas, you can open up more rooms to him. There are still rooms in my house that stay closed to the animals.
