Congratulations on the new addition to your family. You can change his name. We changed Teddy's when we brought him home at 8 months of age and he loved his new moniker instantly. Just say his name a lot in a positive way and he will probably pick up quickly.
What kind of potty training did he have in his previous home -- outdoor or piddle pad? If you can continue with the same, that would be best.
Establish a routine for him, trying to do things like meals and walks at about the same time each day. This will help him acclimate to your busy home.
