I learned everything from my dad too. We share a house because I am a spinster

and he is a widower. Thankfully he is very domestic (taught well by his mother).
I can do everything but electrical and plumbing. Those I leave for dad or a professional. I love the compound mitre saw.
The only thing he wouldn't let me do until this week was use the lawnmower. I finally talked him into letting me mow the lawn because the pollen and mold here are too hard on him.
