Well then as I said before ask your vet why they want to do at day 40? What is the benefit, and what are the risks? For example do you really want multiple Xrays on a pregnant bitch? What happens if nothing shows up with any clarity on day 40 = they going to recommend another Xray?
Maybe you are not sure of the breeding date? Perhaps the vet needs to see how far along she is because you are not sure of the breeding date?
