Small dogs have a higher risk of low blood sugar when there puppies. If they are eating often it keeps it stable unless there is a problem. You might want to look up the symptoms of hypoglycemia. How old is you pup? My friend had a Maltese pup that experienced hypoglycemia and she didn't realize it right away and the vet had to bring the pup back to life twice and then the pup still seems to have some brain damage.
