If I put myself in your position, I would just go meet the owner and see the puppy for myself. I would want to hold and interact with it, and check it over while I had my hands on it.

If you are concerned about any health issues perhaps the owner would write a health guarantee and give you 48 hours to have it checked out by your Vet.

Have you picked out a name?
