Yes, the method mentioned above is what you need to try.

When I got Shelby-Dale (he weighs 70 lbs..keep this in mind), I would put him on leash and he would start dragging me down the street. I bought a harness and then started this method. Note: when you stop the pup from pulling, pull UP on the leash/harness..not back. It has something to do with their frame of mind and pulling back makes it worse.

I walked in circles for days in the middle of my street back when I was working with him. Sometimes, I still have to do this - 3 years later. I know all of the neighbors were watching out of their windows and laughing and saying, "There goes that crazy dog lady again."
