a quality vet can determine the suitability of a breeding female not only by touch but x-ray taking the diameter of the pelvic region, he is just as capiable determining whether she is a good canidate for breeding, the only reason IMHO to consult a reproductive specialist is when or if issues arise as she matures. And it then would be my opinion if issues call for a reproductive specialist other than AI for example the female should NOT be bred.
