I don't know that Yorkies have "short" hair by nature but I do know that many owners whose yorkie's have a cottony coat choose to keep their pups groomed in a "puppy cut" to avoid having to deal with matting hair. Other than that, I don't know. I'd love to see picts of your pup!!
