Hi there. You are so right - it is hard to make the decision on whether to do the surgery. I think it all depends on the grade/level of the LP. Some are low grade so the surgery really isn't necessary yet. It may never be necessary. But others are higher grade, already causing problems and pain. I think if it is to that point, the surgery is best. If your vet is saying to wait until there is an issue, I am guessing it is the lower grade and that is what I would do, too...wait.
