Hello everyone! I didn't see any rules against intro threads, so here I am.

This is my first post but I've been reading the topics for about a month. These forums are a lifesaver! My little boy will arrive in May when he's 8-9 weeks old. I am very excited as I've never had a dog before (only cats).

I chose a Yorkie because my research told me they're great companion dogs. I'm often house- or even bed-bound for health reasons and a dog would ease the loneliness, especially since I just moved to Australia a few weeks ago (I'm a bit of a globe-trotter!)

My only concern is that I don't know anyone locally who has dogs, and I know it's really important for socialisation to start early. The local dog parks seem quite dangerous (aggressive dogs unleashed), and the puppy play groups are expensive. I can take him but probably not too often. How often should my puppy meet other dogs for socialisation?
