i think the puppy formula tend to be higher in protein and fat since they're necessary for a growing puppy. but they can make an adult dog fat.

if you are concerned about the nutritional content of the adult dog food, maybe it's best if you look into the "premium" grade of dog foods like innova, natural balance, nutro ultra, candiae, etc.
