Our regular vet cleaned my mom Yorkie Sammy's teeth and they have an amazing protocol so we had no problems with it and she would have done Callie's too but Callie had broken her tooth and had to have a root canal so she went to the dental specialist. I think if your vet has good protocol and you are comfortable with you vet I don't see why you regular vet can't do it.
