People make the mistake of believing the teeth are ok by looking at the front ones. I am sorry this has happened....but your pup will feel better once the bad teeth are out. She also will be at less of a risk of kidney and heart issues...that bacteria does damage to them. Which brings up another issue. Hopefully you have done yearly blood work so you can compare...but you need to be sure and do them prior to a dental.
I do think the price is steep and would seek a second opinion if I were you. I have never paid more than $700 and have had adult yorkies come to me and need most of their teeth pulled. Of course every area is different, but I encourage you to ask around .. people you know who have dentals done regularly. For that price, I believe you could go to a board certified dentist for your pup! Just be careful when price checking...make sure the vet is using proper anesthesia protocols and has experience with smalll dogs.
Good luck and please keep us posted.. |
