Which breaks my heart, as I am sure everyone here can relate. @Midnight unicorn I have never even heard of Pyometra, how heartbreaking. This website has taught me so much just in the past few days. My Lyra is only 2 weeks old today, but you can bet that I will be well versed and prepared for her by the time she comes home.
Ugghhh! I have met a few males who feel that a male dog or cat does not need to be neutered. This always turns out bad for the animal.
I had a small female Maltese that developed Pyometra during her first heat. She almost died. I had never heard of it and did not even know to watch for it. She developed a fever and thankfully I was able to get her right into the vet. I'm glad you got your friend's dog into a good vet.
