I'm sorry I didn't see this thread until now. I went through the breast cancer diagnosis last March and a lumpectomy in April. Just like you I only needed radiation and 5 years of medication. My oncology radiologist recommended I start using pure aloe vera on the radiated area right from the start. I think it helped keep the damage to my skin at a minimum. I did have redness that was itchy at times and painful at others but it was tolerable. Slight peeling but no blisters. When it started getting worse they had me switch to another ointment, sorry can't think of the name right now but it helped. The treatments don't take long but when you're laying there it seems like forever. I prayed during every one of them and it kept me calm.
