Thanks for posting this important reminder, there's no reason not to use heartworm medication, it's one of the safest medications we can give our pets, and it prevents a deadly disease that can be painful to treat and leave long lasting health affects as seen in Callie. Some rescues won't even treat for heart worm, they think it's too painful and will automatically put to sleep. I’ve read that YHR won’t adopt to people who won’t use heartworm meds, and I love that policy! RIP Callie, I hope people will learn from this. My memory isn’t so great, so we have the company send us a reminder and I also mark it on the calendar when the boys get their monthly pill, and now they have a monthly reminder app for your phone or ipad.
