 My 4 all have colitis...
It started out about 4 weeks ago looking like simple diarrhea, so they all had two five day courses and a ten day course of Metronidazole, which worked fine while they were taking it. As soon as I stopped it, the diarrhea came back. So off to the vet's we went, diagnosis is colitis, or diarrhea of the large bowel. Changed the antibiotic to a Sulfa drug, probiotics, and a med to firm up the loose stools. Can't figure out what started it, either bad food, picked up something in the yard (wet conditions), or maybe a contaminated enzymatic toothpaste, IDK. I sure hope the new meds do the trick. Between butt baths and bleaching the floors I'm not getting much else done around here, lol. |
