Either the vet is inexperienced in small dogs or he had (or saw) a bad experience with a small dog being spayed and his easy way out is to say not to have her spayed. Very sad and if the receptionist is giving you names of other vets and telling you that this vet has a history of turning little ones away, well then, take her advice (I saw that you were able to get your friend to go to your vet - thankfully!) and run as far and as fast as you can from him. What a moron. I think he needs to go back to school.
And about her brother's male dogs, I agree with the others, they should be neutered and not just for the reasons the others posted, but also males can get some cancers if they are not neutered. SMH at some people's logic!
