Are you absolutely sure the vet didn't mean to wait and see if the yorkie-pom gains some more weight before spaying? A lot of vets don't like operating/spaying when they are so small.
The dog definitely needs to be spayed. ESPECIALLY because it is such a small dog.
So, if you are absolutely sure the Vet meant it didn't need to ever be spayed, please have your friend find another vet. That's beyond ridiculous.
