i believe you can retrain him...lots of positive praise when he goes outside. i myself am not a believer in treats for potty at anytime. i am big on vocal praise. doing what you have listed sounds good. just always being aware and making the correction when caught in the act of accidentally pottying inside without making him feel like ur upset with him...just picking him up saying no no and bringing him outside in an even tone. thats my two cents. wishing you much luck..be consistent and he will eventualy understand what you are trying to teach him.
