It's called "potty training spray". It'll have the scent of urine that your dog can smell, but you won't be able to detect it. Potty pads are also scented in the same manner. I just give the potty pad a couple of spritz when i lay it down. You can also spray it in the area where you want to your dog to potty in your backyard. The idea is your dog is dependent on scent to determine where is a good spot to urinate. This is why it's important for you to get an odor eliminator and stain remover like nature's miracle to clean up if your puppy pees on the carpet. Otherwise he'll continue to pee in the same spot because he smells it.

When Bunjee was younger, i used to go through 2 or 3 regular size pads a day. now we go through 1 or 2 of the smaller size pads. lucky for me, bunjee will go on the potty pad more than once. i know some puppies will not use the pad again if it's soiled no matter how small the stain.

Personally, I think if you can train for going outside, you should just start there. I trained for indoor potty pad because i live in a condo and have no yard or patio. Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to get downstairs waiting for the elevator and for a puppy with a small bladder, that's too long of a wait.

Did you have Frank when he was a puppy? I'm sure training a puppy is about the same no matter the breed. There's just more fancy shmancy toys to do it with now.
