Hide the clippers, scissors, and anything sharp from your husband.
When my boys get snowballs, I put them in the sink and run warm water to melt. Then I wrap them in a warm towel to dry. I wait until they are almost completely dry to brush and comb. If their hair isn't tangled before getting encased in snow balls, it usually is fine once they dry. Coats/clothing do tend to tangle their hair, but it is so much easier to deal with on my boys when it is dry.
