Yeah, its too bad that stupidity isn't painful. In my old age I have no problem with saying somthing back to people.
I would have just said (in a motherly scolding voice) "Oh don't be rude," Then I would say something about the vet or the weather etc.
I had a neighbor ask me why Skeeter and Adie don't look alike. LOL
